Florida Getaway

We escaped last week for a family getaway.  It was a jam-packed trip, full of things to see and experience with our boys.  We were slightly sick of the car, but full of dreams and excitement.  The trip began with a stop to visit friends in Atlanta, where we experienced the Georgia Aquarium for the first time.  I have never seen a whale shark up close until now.  It was beautiful.

Next stop, NASA.  I’m not going to lie.  I was totally geeked out for this one.  Our oldest L-O-V-E-S himself some rockets.  Big time loves rockets.  Over the moon loves rockets.  And it’s infectious 🙂  There’s that little spark of scientist that’s hiding somewhere in my left brain 😉  We saw the VAB (Vehicle Assembly Building) with it’s door open, where we could see THE crawler that carried the shuttles to the launch pad.  But the most exciting part was when we stepped off the bus into the Saturn V building.  It’s basically an enormous hanger, where an un-used Saturn V rocket is lying on its side, looking like a football field-sized missile.  It was AH-Mazing.  Huge.  So cool.

Our last stop in the Florida area was infamous Disney.  We decided not to try and be heroes, but to just spend ONE day at Magic Kingdom.  It was plenty for our little folks.  They got just a little taste of the Disney atmosphere (literally COVERED in tasty chocolate ice cream, thank you Daddy).  But we had so much fun.  It was so good to get out and play together.

Alone Time

Something that I always have my clients with children do, is take a photo BY THEMSELVES.  Sometimes it’s tough for moms and dads to take a moment for them alone.  I have a dear friend, Robin, who constantly breathes the best advice into me, that no relationship with anyone on Earth is more important than your relationship with your spouse.  Nurture it, spend time together (alone!).  It strengthens your friendship, and it makes your children feel safe and secure.  They love to see mom and dad as partners.  It’s so important.  And the photos are always beautiful 🙂

Le Clayton Wedding

We have this friend.  His last name is Clayton.  We’re from Indiana, so naturally we say it with a French accent, “Le CLAYTOUUUUUN!!!”  followed by a “hohn, hohn, hohn!!!” in a dirty Frenchman voice.  On a more serious note, this guy has been like a brother to my husband and me since our early days at Purdue.  So, when we had our second son, we named him after this dear friend.

A year ago, we got the ecstatic phone call from Clayton in his super smooth voice, “Dude.  Cheryl and I got engaged this weekend.”  YAY!  Even better, they got married in Austin, TX = Vacation.  It was a beautiful wedding, and their dear photographer gave me permission to take some photos.

My Three Sons

My littles.  I love them to the moon and back.  Poor things get their picture taken all.the.time.  I love the littlest one the most because he can’t run away yet.  🙂  I am absolutely joking.  But seriously, God dished us out some cheeky, light-hearted, joyful smart-tarts.  I am truly blessed.
